II PURPOSE
The purpose of this club shall be to promote fellowship among the alumnae, support the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College and Mount Holyoke College, extend the outreach of the college to the community, and foster interest among prospective students. ARTICLE
III MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Membership. Any former student who has attended the college for at least one year is considered an alumna. Any alumna may become a member of the club. Section 2. Dues. Annual dues are paid on a voluntary basis and are used to support the activities of the club. Active members are alumnae who pay dues. Alumnae who graduated within the last 5 years or more than 50 years ago shall pay half of the annual dues amount. Only active members are eligible to vote and hold office. . Section 3. Associate membership. Any former or present member of the faculty or parent of a present or past student may become an associate member of the club. An associate member shall be entitled to all privileges with the exception of voting and holding office. Associate members are not required to pay dues. Section 4. Honorary Membership. The Board of Directors of the club may nominate special persons for honorary membership in the club. These nominees shall become Honorary Members who will enjoy all rights and privileges of membership, with the exception of holding office and voting, upon a majority vote of the Active members. Honorary members are not required to pay dues. ARTICLE
IV OFFICERS
Section 1. Officers. The club officers will consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Chair . Any office can be a shared position. Section 2. Election. All officers shall be elected at the annual meeting from the list of candidates presented by the nominating committee and any other candidates nominated from the floor. Voting will take place at the meeting by ballot and by absentee ballots that have been received by the time of the meeting. Write-in candidates on absentee ballots will be counted as nominated from the floor. Section 3. Term of Office. The term of office and the fiscal year shall be from July 1 to June 30. The term of office shall be one year. No club officer shall hold the same office for more than three consecutive terms. Section 4. Duties A. President. The President shall preside at all meetings. She shall have the power to call meetings of the Board of Directors, the club, and standing committees. She shall appoint committees when those that do not already exist are proposed or may be required to fulfill a club purpose or project. She shall send an annual report to the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association. B. Vice President. The Vice-President shall serve as program chair and shall perform the duties of the president in her absence or because of her inability to serve her term. She may delegate program chair duties to other members. C. Secretary. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the club and of the board of directors meetings and oversee communications in cooperation with the membership chair. She shall send out notices of all meetings; she shall send a report of the annual election to the Alumnae Office within two weeks after such elections; she shall send reports of activities to the Alumnae Office to meet the printing schedule of the Alumnae Quarterly. D . Treasurer. The Treasurer shall receive all club funds, keep an account of all receipts and expenditures, and make a full report at the annual meeting. She shall send an annual financial report to the Mount Holyoke College Alumnae Association. The Board may conduct an audit of the Treasurer’s records at any time. E.. Membership Chair. The Membership Chair shall update the list of alumnae who move into the area or out of the area, working with the Alumnae Association. She shall also send notes and make calls to these alumnae. She shall appoint her own committee. ARTICLE
V BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1. Composition. The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers of the club. All officers of the club have board voting privileges. At the Board’s discretion, committee chairs, the admissions representative, the President-elect, and the immediate Past President may be included as voting members of the board . Unless the President declares an executive session, all board meetings are open to the entire membership. Section 2. Duties. The Board of Directors shall conduct the business of the club and direct its activities. If the President should be unable to complete her term or become unavailable because of relocating to a different area or because of any other emergency, any two members of the board may call a meeting to make decisions or find a remedy. Section 3. Meetings. The Board of Directors shall meet upon the call of the president or any two members. Section 4. Quorum. Three members shall constitute a quorum. ARTICLE
VI STANDING COMMITTEES
ARTICLE VI COMMITTEES Committees shall be appointed as necessary. They should include at least Membership and Nominating and Book Awards. The President shall appoint committee chairs annually from the membership. Committee chairs will form committees from the membership. ARTICLE
